Last Thursday, I had to go to emerg at the QEH because I was in serious respiratory distress. Seems my lungs had been invaded by a virus (not COVID) and possibly a bacterial infection. Even with the slightest exertion, I couldn't catch my breath.
I was admitted immediately and rushed into the COVID Unit where I was tested again for COVID (still negative) and put on oxygen. Today I'm breathing on my own again, but my lungs have a ways to go to recover. The hospital is releasing me to go home.
I can't express enough praise and gratitude to the LPNs, RNs, doctors, and support staff at the QEH, especially in Emerg and Unit 5, for what has been the most challenging time for my health in my life. The kindness and supportive encouragement I received from everyone helped me through this time.
And just as important has been the steadfast support from my friend and partner, Mary Phalen 😘
I'll borrow an expression Shaun Majumdar once used, I'm as "weak as a kitten fresh out of the dryer". And while I still have a long way to go to be more fully recovered, I thank you all for helping me through this.
